Director:  Edmund Shehadeh

Beginnings:
The Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR) began as a Cheshire Home for physically disabled children in a private house in Bethlehem. BASR took over the work in 1975. In 1990, the Society was able to purchase land on the outskirts of Bethlehem and develop a purpose built centre.

Activities:

  • High quality care for patients both during and after their treatment, including medical and rehabilitation services, physiotherapy, speech and occupational therapies, alongside counselling and advisory services.
  • School lessons, vocational training and a workshop form part of the Centre’s rehabilitative services.
  • Outpatient services including physiotherapy, a hydrotherapy pool and an orthopaedic workshop.
  • Outreach Centres in nearby towns and villages, where visiting rehabilitation workers help parents care for their children.
