What is the Jacob United Holiday Project all about?
Many children are familiar with the story of Joseph and his famous coat, not least because of the success of the musical ‘Joseph and his amazing technicolor dream coat’. But the Jacob United Holiday Project takes a slightly different slant on the story!
There are enough brothers to make a football team and Joseph is their dreamy striker who so infuriates his brothers that once the transfer window opens they sell him to the Ishmaelites.
As well as hearing the story each day the children attending Jacob United Holiday Project will have the opportunity to take part in six workshops:
- Big Art
- Cooking
- Football
- Parachute Games
- Puppet Craft
- Quiet Space – where they will be able to reflect on their own dreams and ambitions
Who is the material aimed at?
It is aimed at children of primary school age, from Reception to Year 6.
What is in the pack?
This downloadable pack will provide you with:
- an outline guide of how to set up your holiday project
- a detailed plan for each of the three days (plus an outline for a Holiday Project Service at the end)
- stories and material for assembly time, group activities and workshops
timetables for the days/activities
- suggestions for music
- advice on practical considerations such as Health & Safety, costs, venues, publicity etc
- templates for the craft activities, a register and a publicity poster
Throughout the holiday project the children will learn of the principles of reconciliation and forgiveness in the biblical account, which can be used to transform all our relationships.
When is the best time of year to use it?
There are now more holiday activities provided for children than ever, particularly in the summer months. This holiday project is designed so that it can also be run in the February and October half terms when there are fewer competing attractions. It has been deliberately kept to three days to enable smaller churches and groups to run their own scheme and so provide a fun, rewarding and fulfilling experience for leaders and children alike.
